Royale as she is know at home is an outstanding bitch, showing all the qualities I was looking for in the breed.  She is a bit aloof with strangers, but loves her friends.  I have a lot of fun campaigning her to her title and look forward to seeing what special girl she can produce for me in the future.

There is an unknown history behind Royale.  Being from a litter of 13 puppies, I was asked who was I going to cull.  No one was the reply, they are all perfectly healthy pups and dont deserve to go just because the litter was bigger than I wanted.  (a nice 6 or 7 would have been great,,,lol).  I stay with my pups till they are 2 weeks old, when I usually say they are safe to leave.  So of we go to a show, leaving mum to care for her brood. On the second day after showing I noticed a pup looking a bit lethargic and thin.  Checking and weighing found one very dehydrated girl that had lost 100 grams in 2 days, this puppy was dying.  I quickly got out the syringe and glucose and water to give this pup a chance, it helped, but she was so weak she wasnt suckling well.  Great, I had a bag of Pal Rehydratable ready for weaning time so I made up a real mushy gruel with that and warm milk, water and a dob of honey.  This was syringed into her mouth every couple of hours for the next few days, plus a dob of nutrigel as an extra help a couple of times a day.  She responded well, but looked shocking, so far behind the other pups.  I kept up with the supplements even once she was suckling off mum, to help her.  As it came time to let the pups go to new homes she would be brought up for prospective owners, but by the time they would arrive she would be left inside and someone else shown (big grin).  At 10 weeks Steven asked if he could run her on if she wasnt sold, we never tried to sell her, there seemed to be something special about this little ugly duckling.
Now she has grown up and we see no ugly duckling, just one very beautiful bitch that definitely deserved to live.
